Lethbridge College is pleased to announce Bryon Anderson, an engaging leader with more than a dozen years of experience working directly with government, businesses, Indigenous communities and associations, has begun his new role as director of government and public affairs and board governance officer. 

Lethbridge College will hold a series of focus group meetings in southern Alberta as it reviews its current state and prepares for the future through its Road to Ready initiative.

Lethbridge College is celebrating Spring Convocation with two ceremonies on Friday. The first begins at 10 a.m. and the second will get underway at 2 p.m. in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium.

A mock hostage scenario is being filmed at Lethbridge College's 30th Avenue Residence on the east side of campus from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23. You may see police and hear simulated gun rounds and screaming but there is no danger to the community. Please avoid the area during filming. 

Lethbridge College is pleased to announce that Dave Jackson – a mentor, philanthropist and integral part of Lethbridge’s thriving construction industry – will receive an Honorary Bachelor’s Degree as part of the college’s Spring 2023 Convocation ceremonies. He is the 22^nd person to receive this honour.

Lethbridge College’s Spring 2023 valedictorian Michael Kindley says he came to the college because of the excellent volleyball program and the chance to be a part of the great athletics community and culture the team is known for. But he stayed – for a full five years – because of the quality of education he received while representing the institution.

Lethbridge College will receive more than $350,000 for a greenhouse lighting research project, which will be the first major project in the college’s new 10,000 square foot on-campus research greenhouse – The Centre for Sustainable Food Production.  

Lethbridge College is ready to support newcomers with an interest in trades thanks to a $300,000 Settlement, Integration and Language Projects (SILP) grant. Awarded by Alberta’s Ministry of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism, SILP funding supports projects that work toward strengthening a diverse and inclusive workforce by helping communities attract, welcome and retain newcomers.

Second-year Digital Communications and Media (DCM) student Chase Chambers will be learning from some of the best in the business thanks to a story proposal he submitted in competition for this year’s Troy Reeb Internship offered by Lethbridge College.

Congratulations go out to Dr. Juan Carlos Olivares Contreras, a student finishing the program in Lethbridge College’s English Language Centre. He was part of a six-person panel discussing the newcomer experience in Canada that kicked off the Premier’s Summit on Fairness to Newcomers on March 17 in Calgary. A physician with more than a decade of experience in Mexico, he now works as a pharmacy assistant. He hopes to serve as a doctor again.
